Lockdown Diaries: India, Upper 4

In our latest Lockdown Diary, we hear from U4 pupil India about what it's been like to learn from home and how she keeps herself busy in lockdown.

"‘Lockdown’ - now here’s a word not many of us are likely to forget in a very long time, and the covering of our faces with many different, colourful masks, so as to avoid the spreading of this dreaded Covid virus. If someone had mentioned this would be what we would all be doing a couple of years ago, I may have thought them a little crazy! When all of our lives, daily routines, social get-togethers and leisure activities all had to stop for a third time - we all had to ‘stay at home’ again!

I think I have adapted quite quickly and well to the 'New Normal’ routine we have now, especially as we have an hour extra in bed every morning, hooray!

Once I am up and ready to start my day, home schooling begins in our study, which has become my new classroom/workplace for my lessons and they seem to be working very well online. I try very hard to focus and to finish tasks and work set and keep on top of these daily. Then when I have a break or spare time in between, I very often pick up my flute. I find this so relaxing, it’s great to play an instrument as it enables me to switch off from my work, this has been really good for me!

At 4pm, when hopefully all my school work is complete, I really look forward to catching up with a lot of my school friends, mainly we call or face time each other. We have so much fun, whether putting together Tik Toks or participating in tasks in the garden, skills with a football or even trying to perfect our juggling! Sometimes I just take myself off to my running machine to help with my fitness, ready for my return to my cricket and hockey (which hopefully won’t be too long now!). A long walk or a fun cycle ride is always a priority at the weekends as the scenery is so beautiful around our village and I love the fresh air!

There are always things I can find happily to do, sometimes I just sit and draw. It’s very peaceful, relaxing and rewarding to see what I can produce and I recently completed the construction of the Hogwarts Harry Potter Castle out of Lego, which I thoroughly enjoyed.

I certainly cannot wait until the day I can be dropped back off again in the morning for our first day back at school, that also I am sure will be a day to remember, the excitement and atmosphere is something we can all look forward to.

Stay safe everyone and hopefully see you all very soon!"
