A Bright Idea From The Young Chamber

As part of the A-level Business Enterprise course, Norwich School offers pupils the chance to start their own business - this is known as Young Chamber. We caught up with the pupils who created Clara Jewellery to find out more about the inspiration behind their business:

"Our business has five members, Lucy Benton, Rosie Crane, Amy Beadman, Millie Hay and Macy-Jane Hewitt. When we first sat down together as a group, we began by assigning roles and brainstorming ideas. We decided to make and sell beaded jewellery.

Instantly, we loved the name Clara to represent our business. Clara is known as ‘bright’ in Latin and we thought that this was the perfect fit for our business, as our objective was to make colourful and bright necklaces and bracelets for all ages.

We quickly discovered that a lot of time was required to reach the business’ full potential. At first, we each made our own design, as well as a design that portrayed the sunset colours of the business. However, as we expanded and more sales opportunities arose, we began to make more designs to meet our customers needs.

We have all thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We have learnt that there are many elements to making a business successful, including clear communication, well organised money management and lots of dedication. We would not have been able to achieve the growth and success we have without the support and advice from both Mrs Dean and Mr White.

We would all highly recommend younger pupils participate in the Young Chamber scheme, as we feel it has been extremely beneficial for both our educational learning and personal advancement. Clara Jewellery plans to continue to sell until the end of Trinity Term and we will also feature in the 2022 Fashion Show!"
