Walking with the Wounded visit Upper One

10 February 2020

Upper One pupils have recently been learning about the polar regions.

Walking with the Wounded visited the school and talked to pupils about the expedition they led to the North Pole. Viveca Johnstone, the Community Fundraiser and Volunteer Coordinator came to talk to pupils. Viveca gave an extremely interesting presentation on the expedition, the struggles they faced, the wildlife they encountered.

Pupils then had a chance to try on some of the clothing worn in the Arctic and also to wear the skis and lift the pulk.

Pupils also got to hold the actual flag that the Walking with the Wounded expedition took to the North Pole which was extremely exciting.
