U3 welcome family to the Lower School for Grandparents Day

14 June 2022

On a sunny Thursday afternoon, Upper 3 were able to invite their grandparents to the Lower School for the first time since Trinity Term 2019.

Mr Ingham welcomed grandparents and then the children enjoyed taking them on a tour of the school and grounds. Many of the grandparents commented on how wonderful the garden was looking with the meadow of wildflowers, the wildlife in the pond and the variety of vegetables in the raised beds. As they were leaving the garden, one grandparent referred to it as a "hidden gem in the heart of Norwich".

Upper 3 were delighted to tell their grandparents that the garden had been renamed in a special assembly that very morning to the Platinum Jubilee Wellbeing Garden. It was the perfect opportunity to make sure they went to see the pear tree, which was planted that morning as part of the Queen’s Green Canopy.

Following the tour, everyone relaxed in the sunshine to enjoy refreshments and the afternoon was concluded with a beautiful performance by the school choirs.

It was clear from the many happy, smiling faces, that it had been a much-appreciated afternoon, with one grandparent commenting: "It’s been a delightful afternoon which I’ve thoroughly enjoyed. Thank you!"
