Celebrating Judith Kerr's 101st Birthday with a "Tiger Who Came to Tea" Party!

11 June 2024

To mark the 101st birthday of beloved author Judith Kerr, our Infant pupils enjoyed a delightful "Tiger Who Came to Tea" party filled with creativity, fun, and delicious treats! The celebration was inspired by Kerr's classic tale and provided a memorable day for our young pupils.

The festivities began with a range of engaging activities. Pupils had their faces painted like tigers and showcased their artistic talents by decorating tiger-shaped biscuits with vibrant icing and sprinkles. They also took part in tiger crafts using their handprints, turning them into colourful, imaginative masterpieces.

The highlight of the party was the amazing Tiger Tea. Inspired by the book, the themed menu featured sausages and chips served in cones, a variety of tasty sandwiches, an assortment of biscuits, and a scrumptious cake. To top it off, pupils had the opportunity to visit the tiger ice cream station and create their own tiger ice cream. Of course, no Tiger tea party would be complete without a cup of tea, which perfectly complemented the delicious food.

Adding to the excitement, there was also a special visit from the tiger himself! Thankfully, our friendly tiger wasn’t hungry and didn't eat all the food, much to the delight of the young attendees.

This special event not only celebrated the legacy of Judith Kerr but also brought her enchanting story to life for our pupils. The party was full of fun and we honoured a much loved author.
