Creative Writing Project in Partnership with Dying Matters

I Wish We'd Spoken Earlier

We would like to welcome Year 8, 9 and 10 pupils from across Norfolk to take part in a Creative Writing Competition in partnership with Dying Matters.

Norwich School has been working with the Dying Matters organisation to help encourage constructive discussion around the issues of death and bereavement. Drawing on the expertise of NHS, voluntary and independent health and care sectors, as well as schools, community organisations and faith groups, Dying Matters aims to change society's perception of death and diminish the taboo of talking about dying.

We are rolling out a creative writing project across Norfolk, encouraging young people to consider death as a part of life. Using the prompt of the Dying Matters campaign, "I Wish We'd Spoken Earlier", pupils are challenged to write a maximum of 1000 words in prose, poetry, script, lyrics or audio.

Full details of the project, can be found here.

The entry deadline is 26th April 2019, and pieces will be judged by a panel. The selected pieces will form part of the Norfolk Dying Matters Conference Event at the Forum on 9th May. An exhibition of works will take place in Norwich School Crypt Gallery in the summer.
