Sixth Norfolk Cambridge Society Lecture to take place

15 November 2019

The sixth Norfolk Cambridge Society lecture will take place on Thursday 23rd January 2020 at 6.30pm in the Blake Studio.

The lecture will be given by Sir Christopher Greenwood on the subject of ‘Civilising the World - The Highways and Byways of International Justice’.

Sir Christopher Greenwood is a former British judge at the International Court of Justice, a former Professor of International Law at the London School of Economics and Master (designate) of Magdalene College, Cambridge.

The lecture will look at international law, which is, of course, a most important topic for us all. It deals with the acquisition of territory, state immunity and the legal responsibility of states in their conduct with each other and plays a major role in helping to maintain international peace and security. It is also concerned with the treatment of individuals within state boundaries, including group rights, the treatment of aliens, the rights of refugees, international crimes, nationality problems and human rights.

Tickets for this event are priced at £15 per person. However, for people in full-time adult education, for senior citizens over 60 and for all tickets bought and paid for before Friday 6 December, the price will be reduced to £10 per person. There is also a strictly limited number priced at £5 available to sixth form students accompanied by parents or teachers. All prices include a glass of wine (not sixth form students) or a soft drink. To buy tickets, please email geoffreyjnsmart@gmail.com, stating the number you require of each category (£5, £10 and £15)

Please note that most seats are sold several weeks in advance. You are therefore strongly advised to book early.
