Teacher Training

Teacher Training at Norwich School

Norwich School supports those looking to achieve Qualified Teacher Status. This includes working in partnership with:

University of East Anglia (UEA)

We usually host between 3 - 7 PGCE trainees from UEA for their second school placement. Each trainee is given a Subject Mentor, who meets with them weekly throughout their time with us. There is also a Link Tutor who oversees mentors and trainees. Find out more about the UEA PGCE and watch the UEA video.

Cambridge University

We often have a trainee with us, who completes their Professional Development (PD) alongside other trainees. For more information visit Cambridge University PGCE

Buckingham University

We support a small number of teachers each year, training with Buckingham University on their PGCE course. This programme is open to existing Norwich School staff. They are allocated a Subject Mentor and an Induction Tutor for the year. The mentor meets with the trainee weekly. Visit Secondary PGCE with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

Suffolk and Norfolk Initial Teacher Training partnership (SNITT)

We are linked with the SNITT, where our teachers can take the Assessment Only route - achieving QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) in just 12 weeks. We see this as an exciting alternative that suits more experienced colleagues and have had three members of staff successfully qualify this way in the last few years.

Norfolk Teacher Training Centre

We work with the Norfolk Teacher Training College offering placements and links for their trainees.

Norfolk Teaching and Leadership Excellence Centre (NTLEC)

In recent years we have hosted sessions for Heads of Departments as part of a programme run by the NTLEC. Our Mathematics department were the first to be involved at Norwich School and we hope to develop links further in the future. Find out more here: Norfolk Teaching and Leadership Excellence Centre
