Teacher Training

Teacher Training at Norwich School

Norwich School is a centre for PGCE placements, offering many different routes into teaching. For more information regarding any of the options below, please contact Nicola Hill or Emily Tolhurst.

University of East Anglia (UEA)

We usually host between 3 - 7 PGCE trainees from UEA for their second school placement. Each trainee is given a Subject Mentor, who meets with them weekly throughout their time with us. There is also a Link Tutor who oversees all of the mentors and trainees. Find out more about the UEA PGCE and watch the UEA video.

Cambridge University

We annually have a Classics trainee with us, who completes their Professional Development (PD) alongside other trainees. For more information visit Cambridge University PGCE

Buckingham University

We have between 2 - 5 teachers each year, training with Buckingham University on their PGCE course. They are allocated a Subject Mentor and an Induction Tutor for the year. The mentor meets with the trainee weekly. We are also a pilot school in HMC Teacher Direct (HMCTT); a two year project where the trainee is trained with us via Buckingham and then completes their NQT year with us too. Visit Secondary PGCE with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

Suffolk and Norfolk Initial Teacher Training partnership (SNITT)

We are linked with the SNITT, where our teachers are able to take the Assessment Only route - achieving QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) in just 12 weeks. We see this as an exciting alternative that suits more experienced colleagues and have had three members of staff successfully qualify this way in the last few years.

Norfolk Teacher Training College

We work with the Norfolk Teacher Training College offering placements and links for their trainees.

Norfolk Teaching and Leadership Excellence Centre (NTLEC)

This year we are hosting a training session for Heads of Departments as part of a programme run by the NTLEC. Our Mathematics department are the first to be involved at Norwich School but we hope that other departments will follow. Find out more here: Norfolk Teaching and Leadership Excellence Centre
