Norfolk University Access Programme

The 2014 Norfolk University Access Programme held at Norwich School worked with groups of Norfolk state school to raise their aspirations and dispel myths surrounding the university application process. Now in its 12th year, the programme has benefitted over 1700 state-school pupils.

The programme offers unique opportunities to sixth form pupils, enabling them to make informed decisions about their applications to Oxbridge and the country’s other top universities. In 2010/11, just 6% of Norfolk state school A-Level pupils obtained places at Russell Group Universities. Through a series of subject tutorials, personal statement guidance, career advice, mock interviews, as well as visits to Oxford and Cambridge, the Norfolk University Access Programme has had a transformational impact on previous participants; seven attendees from the 2013 Summer School were offered places at Oxbridge and a further five at Russell Group Universities.

I found the Summer School truly invaluable.  Not only did they help with choosing universities and admission processes, but the subject tutorials also gave me material to help with my A2 exams” - Summer School attendee
