At Norwich School we are very fortunate to have a Common Room that is so passionate about rugby and all that it entails. Our staff both coach and referee to a high standard and aim to instill the core values of rugby: teamwork; respect; enjoyment; discipline; and sportsmanship. Rugby is played during the Michaelmas Term and we are proud of the number of boys that take part in the sport. On a Saturday we will have as many as 13 plus teams participating in fixtures, giving the pupils an opportunity to represent the School whether that be on the Lower Close with the beautiful backdrop of the cathedral or on one of our six rugby pitches at Redmayne.
We aim to offer playing opportunities for pupils from grass roots level while also providing the highest standards of coaching to allow boys to achieve representative honours. Just recently George Catchpole has signed another deal with Leicester Tigers while Lewis Hall has been awarded a professional contract with Northampton Saints. Both our Under 15 and Under 18 teams participate in the Daily Mail Cup competition, now known as the Natwest Schools Cup, and over the years both have enjoyed success in both the Cup and Vase competitions.
