Girls Hockey

The standard of hockey at Norwich School is extremely high: an excellent training programme focussing on broad participation while striving for excellence; use of 3 astro pitches; and experienced players and coaches amongst the coaching staff (3 level 2 coaches and one ex international player).

Over 150 girls represent the School in 14 teams.  At the younger age groups, the School plays local prep schools such as Gresham’s Prep, Beeston Hall, Town Close, Taverham Hall while the older age groups play Langley, Woodbridge and RHS Holbrook, Framlingham College, Wymondham, King’s Ely, Norwich High and Gresham’s. Our U18 and U16 teams compete in the national competitions both indoors and outdoors, and our U16 team reached the regional finals for the second year in a row.

Pupils benefit from two training sessions a week, as well as fixtures on Saturdays. There is also fitness training and girls indoor hockey after school one night a week. Pupils in the younger year groups also benefit from small group and individual coaching after school.

The school also benefits from strong club links with local clubs: Harleston Magpies, Norwich City and Dragons. We regularly have girls getting through to JRPC and Amy Campbell in U5 has represented England at U16 level for the last two years.
