The Senior School is the base for Norwich School boys and girls between the ages of eleven and eighteen (Years 7-13). There are large intakes of new pupils at ages 11, 13 and 16.
The School has its own distinctive names for year groups:

| Year 8 | Upper Four |
| Year 9 | Lower Five |
| Year 10 | Middle Five |
| Year 11 | Upper Five |
| Year 12 | Lower Sixth |
| Year 13 | Upper Sixth |
The Head Master, while responsible to the Governors for the whole school from 7 to 18, is primarily based in the Senior School and is a member of HMC – The Headmasters’ and Headmistresses’ Conference.
