1st XI hockey team through to 2nd round of East Tournament
11 November 2013
After winning the county tournament in October, the 1st XI girls hockey team yet again saw success in the 1st round of the East U18 tournament on Thursday 7th November at the UEA.
In the group stages, the team were up against the Perse, Sharnbrook and Queenswood schools. After winning 3-0 and 4-0 in the two opening group games, we lost the 3rd game to Queenswood 3-1. This resulted in the team finishing as runners up in their group and meant we had to face Framlingham College in the final.
After going behind twice, we pulled the game back to finish 2-2, which then went immediately to penalty flicks. Natasha Grapes was the hero of the day saving three penalty flicks in a row and Sophie Cullens, Georgia Heaton and Emily Brown all scored, putting us through to the next round. The team showed courage, ability and the desire to win; every player worked so hard for their team and for the school.
A massive well done to the players: Natasha Grapes (GK), Caitlin Dawkins, Alice Guest, Georgia Heaton, Hannah Carroll, Amy Campbell, Klara Moolman, Emma Moolman, Lucy Hopgood, Emily Brown (C), Laura Bailey, Alice Cary, Sophie Cullens, Lisa Dobson, Cat MacIvor.
