21 June 2012
The Deveson Prize for solo musical performance took place on Wednesday 20th June. The competition is open to pupils in all year groups. Every performer gave of their very best, and the standard this year was exceptionally high at all levels. This year’s adjudicator was Christopher Hopkins, the acclaimed pianist and conductor. Mr Hopkins is also an ON so his comments were especially meaningful as he himself is a four-time prize-winner at Deveson competition. Clearly moved by many of the performances, when summing up, he recalled his own time at the school and said ‘It makes me very proud to have come here, and very proud that the Music Department is still thriving’.
