This year’s German Exchange saw17 Norwich School pupils from L5 and M5 head to Linz-am-Rhein for the first week of the Easter holidays. Pupils were hosted by friendly and welcoming families for their stay and took every opportunity to practise their German, both with their partners and at home with the German families. They also attended school and joined in everyday activities with them in order to learn more about German family life and the German school system.
The itinerary for week was action-packed! Highlights included a visit to the Lindt chocolate factory and a walk up the Siebengebirge which provided magnificent views of the Rhine and surrounding towns. Pupils also became local celebrities when their visit to the town mayor ended in an ice-cream (a reward for their excellent questions about Linz!) and a newspaper interview and photo which appeared in the local press the following week.
It was a great week and everyone should be very proud of themselves for speaking so much German and presenting such a positive view of Norwich School wherever they went.
