Dr Manuela Martino speaks at Forefront

Dr Manuela Martino, Senior Research Associate at the UEA, spoke at Forefront, the School Science Society. Pictured here with Will Boulton (L6S) and Nick Siemons (M5C), she described her research into the concentration of iron in the world’s oceans. In recent years, it has been claimed that seeding the ocean with iron could promote the growth of plankton which would photo-synthesise carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and help to offset the effects of global warming. Dr Martino presented evidence to disprove this hypothesis, giving us an insight into the need to support climate change theories with reliable science. Watch out for more Forefront talks next term.
