German students' outreach event
27 June 2011
The Lower 6 German students were proud to take part in the School's philanthropy and outreach programme when they visited St John's Catholic Infant School on Heigham Road in Norwich. Our pupils successfully entertained 60 odd Year 1 children (aged 5 to 6) with two half hour performances in German..jpg)

The pupils began by teaching them how to say hello and introduce themselves, before acting out Rottkäppchen (Little Red Riding Hood) in German with Georgie Franklin (N) playing Rottkäppchen, Matt Majewski (R) the Wolf, Charlotte Rogers (R) the Grandmother and doubling up as the Hunter, Alex Barnes the mother, and Zoë Sutcliffe as the Narrator. There was lots of very good acting involving very convincing wolf howls and chase scences..jpg)

Once the play was over, the Sixth Form pupils and their teachers led the children in a song version of 'Kopf, Schulter, Knie und Zehen' and taught them some colours and numbers before saying 'Auf Wiedersehen'..jpg)

The children were also given a colouring book based around Little Red Riding Hood and now know that a lot of their favourite fairy stories are in fact German.
The morning was a great success and much enjoyed by both sets of pupils and we look forward to visiting St John's again in the future.
