Inter-School Debating

Polly Ramsay and Rose Herbert (both of U5V) represented Norwich School at intermediate level. Rose opened the debate on "This House would legalise all drugs", while Polly spoke in opposition. Rose has some experience of speaking in public from her participation in the recent ESU compeition, but Polly was a complete beginner. Both spoke well and with confidence. Zachary Friend chaied the seniors debate on "War is a necessary evil". As ever, it was an enjoyavble evening, with a lot of eating and socialising, with the debate taking place in a friendly and stimulating atmosphere.
My thanks are due to all who took part, each of the stepping up quite late in the day to ensure that Norwich School was represented at this level.
Jon Kempton is hoping to organise another event in the Trinity Term, with a debate in Spanish this time! I hope our linguists are taking note.
