Oxford Union Schools Cup 2010

The competition was tough, and the topics debated were: this house would legalise prostitution, and this house would refuse to trade with countries who do not cut their carbon emissions.
The team of Mike Wooldridge and Billy Clayton were perhaps unlucky in both debates, and as a result were not able to qualify for the next round.
Peter Baillie-Johnson and Polly Lockhart were both debating novices, and they are to be thanked for stepping in at the 11th hour. Despite their lack of experience, they acquitted themselves extremely well, and won their first debate. They then faced our other pairing of James Hooper and Chloe France, who had also triumphed in their first debate. Pete and Polly debated like veterans, but were unlucky to lose to James and Chloe who now continue to the national finals which will be held in Oxford in March.
