News from the Boat Club

15 May 2009

Beford Regatta had an exceptionally strong field this year. The U15B and C crews made good progress throughout the day but against A crews from major rowing schools ultimately they were not able to get through to the finals. The U14A and B crews again did well with the U14A crew losing out narrowly to St Paul's.

The second 4 beat a Radley crew and reached the semi-final of their main event.

The First 4 had the performance of the day in the Men's event beating a men's crew from Bedford Rowing Club on the way to a close final with the University of London, who had earlier beaten Eton. Although Norwich School lost by 1.5 seconds, they have made great progress to race competitively at the level of adult national division 2.

Three crews went to Poplar to race over 2000m. The U16 double scull continue to show promise but were outpaced by stronger crews over the championship distance. The U15A crew again showed great determination rowing against bigger and older opposition in the U16 event to come second.

The U17 double scull beat Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge in the final of the men's double scull event but could not catch the men's crew from Henley Rowing Club.
