U12 Central Area Netball Champions 2009

2 March 2009

The U12s who have been achieving some excellent results recently, joined nine other teams to compete in this tournament at UEA. The teams were divided into two sections of five, ending with semi-finals and a final.

Norwich School in their first game played Hellesdon High School. Norwich School moved the ball around the court with accuracy and speed and were worthy of their win, 15 - 0. In their second game they played Thorpe House School. Good opposition made the Norwich School girls work a little harder but the shooters were on fine form and another 10 - 0 victory recorded. Our third game, and closest in the section, was against Notre Dame High School. It was fairly even through the first few minutes but Norwich School started to take control and ensure that we stayed ahead to take a 6 - 2 victory. Our last game in the section, against Sprowston High School, again showed how well the Norwich School girls could control the ball around the court. Good movement to find space from all of our players was the key to four good victories.

As winners of the section, we went through to the semi-final against Hethersett High School. The game was a little slow and bunched but by the second half the Norwich School girls began making the opposition work harder and created more space for themselves to work in. A good 9 - 2 victory was recorded and a place in the final secured. Our opposition was Notre Dame High School so it was not to be an easy game. A whole half went by with neither team scoring, even though both had had their chances. Norwich School eventually took control and were victorious in a 4 - 1 win.

Well done to all the squad: Brittany Parkinson, Amy Campbell, Alice Guest, Saskia Delacave, Laura Bailey, Millie Thompson, Mami Emore, Katharine Ronaldson and Evie Hilyer.

Many thanks also to our loyal supporters!
